Center for Russia-Myanmar Tourism and Cultural Ties
We promote tourism and people-to-people ties between Russia and Myanmar.
The Neva & Irrawaddy Center is based in Saint Petersburg. Its purpose is to help people and organizations of both countries get to know each other better.
The Neva and the Irrawaddy are the main rivers of Saint Petersburg and Myanmar. That is where the name comes from.
Diplomatic relations between our countries were established on 18 February 1948, shortly after Burma declared independence. Since then, the two countries have worked together in education, science and the humanities.
Visa-free travel has opened a new chapter. Citizens of both countries can now get to know each other directly: travel, discover the culture and traditions.
Dear friends,
Russia and Myanmar have long been connected by history and mutual respect. Today the people of our countries can travel freely to each other. We founded the Neva & Irrawaddy Center to make this opportunity closer and clearer for everyone.
We look forward to meeting you and working together.
We want Myanmar to become a clear and accessible destination for Russian travelers, and Russia for visitors from Myanmar.
Little is known about Myanmar in Russia, and about Russia in Myanmar. We share the history, culture and everyday life of both countries.
Tourism starts with people. We support communication between residents, organizations and communities of both countries.
Travelers should know the entry rules, local customs and how to prepare before they go. We gather this information in one place.
Visa-free travel has opened new opportunities. We want interest in travel to grow into lasting tourism and cultural ties over time.
The Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on Mutual Visa Exemption for Citizens of the Russian Federation and Citizens of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar was signed in Minsk on 28 October 2025. It entered into force on 27 January 2026.
